Love is what drives us at OCRJ to defend, support, and fight for Oklahomans’ access to abortion care, and we want you to join us in the fight!
We show our love by envisioning and then building a world where everyone has the freedom to make choices for their lives, bodies, and futures. We gain empathy for others by seeing the world through a compassionate lens. Everyone needs and deserves compassion, love, and support and we will always fight to defend the humanity of our community.
Abortion access ensures that every person has the opportunity to live their life with health, dignity and on their own terms. We strive to reaffirm the dignity and humanity of people seeking abortion care and that means rejecting judgment and shame, and offering love and compassion to people who’ve made the decision to terminate a pregnancy.
Defending abortion rights means empowerment,
not just for ourselves but for our entire community.
Access to abortion care for Oklahomans, if and when they need it, prevent needless maternal deaths, and ensure basic freedom. With abortion access, native women in Oklahoma have more bodily sovereignty and increase their ability to determine their own paths and regain the agency that has been stripped away throughout history. When abortion care is inaccessible, that impact is most felt by low-income, people of color. Disenfranchised families in our community enjoy lessened hardships when abortion access is accessible to all.
The degradation of Oklahomans’ right to abortion care has gone on far too long, and hurt far too many. Taking our right to abortion from us will always disproportionately hurt the most vulnerable. Abortion is healthcare, and we will never stop fighting for that human right! Love is universal, and so should the human right to access the healthcare we choose.
Love is a Verb
We do this work out of love, and we invite all Oklahomans to join us. The autonomy and freedom of choice for all Oklahomans is important, so here are some things you can do right now to show that love:
